Hello Dear Friend,
As the days grow longer and the chill of winter fades, the land awakens with fresh energy, bringing forth the first signs of spring. There is something truly magical about this time of year—the air feels lighter, the sun a little warmer, and the earth, once resting, begins to hum with new life.
One of my favorite signs of spring’s return is the way my bird feeder fills with life—tiny finches, bright cardinals, and playful chickadees flitting about, celebrating the new season just as we do. I love stepping outside in the morning, feeling the warmth of the sun on my face, and listening to the birdsong that seems to be calling everything into bloom. There’s something about those simple moments—the sun, the fresh air, the sounds of nature—that feel truly magical.
For farmers and food lovers alike, spring is a season of renewal. The soil, enriched by the quiet rest of winter, is now bursting with nutrients, ready to nourish the first tender greens, crisp radishes, and fragrant herbs. It’s the time when we witness nature’s incredible cycle—seeds planted in faith push through the ground, transforming into the vibrant, nutrient-dense foods that will fill our tables and nourish our bodies.
Spring reminds us of fresh starts and possibilities. Just as the land wakes up, we too feel a renewed sense of energy and excitement. It’s a season to cleanse, refresh, and embrace the lightness of eating foods that are naturally available—crisp lettuces, peppery radishes, sweet peas, and delicate herbs like parsley and chives.
In many ways, eating seasonally in spring is like pressing the reset button on our health. The foods that nature provides during this time—leafy greens, sprouts, and detoxifying vegetables—are exactly what our bodies crave after winter’s heavier meals. They help cleanse, hydrate, and replenish, supporting digestion and overall well-being.
Beyond nourishment, spring is also a season of connection—to the land, to our food, and to each other. It’s the joy of sharing the first harvests, cooking vibrant meals together, and celebrating the rhythm of nature that keeps us all connected.
So as we step into this season of abundance and growth, let’s take a moment to appreciate the beauty of renewal, the miracle of fresh food, and the simple pleasure of embracing what’s in season. Spring is here—let’s savor every moment! 🌿💛
🌱To your health and happiness, with gratitude and love – Marlene
